I was charged for drunk driving one month ago. I hit a child of 12. The unlucky kid had to undergo a leg surgery but he's fine now, really. From the last time I heard of, he's alive and kicking and running once again. You may well think right this very moment that I'm an irresponsible girl drunk driving and all. No, I'm not. My normal day consists of waking up at 0715 in the morning, have a bowl of oatmeal and a piece of fruit for breakfast, commute to work. At the office, I usually pretend to be busy or am really busy, have a sandwich or salad for lunch then pretend to be busy again till 1700. I head straight to the gym afterwork for yoga or resistance training depending on my program everyday before I go home. I don't party that much. Most of my earnings go to healthy stuff. When I say healthy stuff, it means gym, clothes, bags, parlor, shoes, home decor, tofu, green tea, brocolli, soy burger, soy milk. Excuse me I think I am blabbering too much. Darn, I don't even smoke or drink and I don't go to parties. I am a law-abiding citizen.
But I was caught drunk driving.
That rainy afternoon, my colleague Lara invited me over to attend a product launching event that her employer organized. Lara works as an accountant at a cosmetic company. They are launching a new beauty product which she thought I might be interested. I didn't want to go at first because events like that makes me sick. I hate socializing. I hate seeing people. I hate being coaxed upon to purchase a certain product. Lastly, I hate eating free food. Because aside from the unwanted fat it might give me and the unexpected expense it might squirt out of me, plastering fake smile in front of strangers is the least thing I wanted to do.
The weird and not-so-weird thing about it is that after much convincing and prying, Lara was able to convince me to come with her, of course, at a certain price. She promised that she will get me that posh spa gift certificate which opened a few months back that I long been wanting. Now we're both happy. I go to the event with her. She gives me that free spa certificate. That night at the event, I confess I drunk a tad of alcohol.
